The Netherlands – Onyx Power intends to construct a hydrogen production plant at its current location in Rotterdam’s port to create low carbon blue hydrogen.
With a capacity of 1,200 MW, the plant could generate 300 kilotons of blue hydrogen each year, helping to decarbonize industries and achieve national decarbonization targets. The CO2 emitted during the production of blue hydrogen would be recovered and stored in depleted offshore gas fields. This might save 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 each year.
EIA
In order to proceed with this project, Onyx Power has notified the competent Environmental Protection Agency (DCMR) that an environmental impact assessment will be conducted in compliance with the Environmental Management Act. The company has released a Notitie Reikwijdte en Detailniveau (NRD) as part of this procedure, which defines the expected scope of the environmental impact assessment.
