Belgium – Four largest Flemish industry federations—Essenscia, Agoria, Fedustria, and Fevia—came together to sign the ‘Future Pact for Flemish Industry’ during the inaugural Flemish Industry Summit in collaboration with the Flemish government.

This historic pact underscores the pivotal role of the industry in driving prosperity and employment while addressing pressing societal challenges such as digitalization, energy transition, and the circular economy.

With over 300 CEOs of Flemish industrial companies in attendance, the summit emphasized the necessity of cooperation between government and industry. Flemish Prime Minister Jan Jambon highlighted the importance of a sustainable industrial agenda, laying the groundwork for a resilient and competitive industry in Flanders. Jo Brouns, Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Work, echoed this sentiment, stressing the need for concrete actions to support companies in their climate transition.

European leadership

Beyond its local impact, the Future Pact sets a precedent for European industrial policy, aligning with calls for an ‘Industrial Deal for European Industry’ to enhance international competitiveness. By committing to over thirty concrete initiatives, the pact seeks to position Flanders as a leading hub for industrial innovation and excellence.
