Italy – Towards circularity and decarbonization, Eni and Holcim have announced a partnership to develop a new CO2 utilization technology.
Eni’s technology is based on the carbonation of magnesium silicate minerals, and the process can produce a material with permanently fixed CO2 that can be used in the formulation of cements.
Research and innovation
Eni’s strategy to become carbon neutral by 2050 relies heavily on research and innovation, and this collaboration is part of that effort. Continuous innovation is the foundation of Eni’s organic growth. Cement manufacturers and researchers will work together to build a demonstration plant to see if they can reduce their plants’ carbon footprints by implementing this new technology.
