Anqore produces with 100% green power

Electrification Sustainable energy

The Netherlands – Chemelot industrial park is a little more sustainable now that USG Industrial Utilities is buying green power from Eneco. This involves approximately 350 GWh of wind energy originating from Windpark Fryslân. A capacity equivalent to 21 wind turbines.

USG has concluded a corporate Power Purchase Agreement with Eneco. The supplier of gas, water, steam and electricity to the Chemelot industrial park can thus make use of some 90 MW of installed capacity of Windpark Fryslân up to and including 2036.

Carbon fibre

Chemical company Anqore, whose products include acrylonitrile at Chemelot, buys green electricity from USG. This agreement contributes to AnQore obtaining 100 percent of its electricity consumption from renewable sources starting this year,’ says CEO Pieter Boon. As an acrylonitrile producer, we are proud that carbon fibre, which is indispensable for reinforcing the blades of wind turbines, is made from acrylonitrile’.

Windpark Fryslân

Windpark Fryslân has been fully operational since recently. The 89 wind turbines in the Dutch IJsselmeer generate a total green wind energy capacity of 382.7 MW. The wind farm produces around 1.5 terawatt hours on an annual basis. Its construction started in March 2019 and will last until December 2021.

The project management of Windpark Fryslân was carried out by Ventolines. The contractor consortium Zuiderzeewind – Siemens Gamesa and Van Oord – were responsible for the construction. Siemens will remain responsible for the maintenance and management of the wind farm for sixteen years.
