Trinseo acquires Dutch plastic waste collector and recycler

Circular economy

The NetherlandsTrinseo has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Heathland, a leading European plastic waste collector and recycler.

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), ABS, polystyrene (PS), and other thermoplastic waste are the primary focus of Heathland, a plastic waste collector and recycler in the Netherlands. The company uses mechanical and chemical recycling processes to collect, pre-treat, and process plastic waste materials, and then turns those materials into high-quality recycled raw materials for a variety of high-end applications. Heathland has a strong foothold in Europe, thanks to projects like MMATwo and REVOLUTION, both of which are supported by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program.

With this acquisition, Trinseo has reached a significant turning point in its evolution into a provider of specialized materials and sustainable solutions. Because of this agreement, the company’s extensive line of environmentally friendly products, which includes a growing number of products made from recycled plastic, will be able to meet the increasing demand for these products on the market.

With this investment, Trinseo hopes to achieve its ambitious 2030 Sustainability Goals, which include combating climate change, building sustainability into its product portfolio, fostering good corporate citizenship among suppliers and employees alike, and being a responsible corporate citizen.
