United States – New Hope Energy will build an advanced recycling plant in Texas under a commercial agreement between the company and TotalEnergies.
The plant will convert end-of-life plastic waste into a recycled feedstock that TotalEnergies will purchase in part and convert into virgin-quality polymers suitable for food packaging.
Pyrolysis technology
The New Hope Energy plant is set to open in 2025 and will use a patented pyrolysis technology developed in collaboration with Lummus Technology to process and convert over 310,000 tons of mixed plastic waste per year that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incineration.
In its Texas-based production units, TotalEnergies will use 100,000 tons of Recycled Polymer Feedstock (RPF) to produce high-quality polymers suitable for food-grade applications such as flexible and rigid food packaging containers.
