France – In order to create a French value chain for advanced recycling of plastic film wastes, TotalEnergies and Paprec, a leader in plastic recycling in France, have inked a long-term commercial partnership.

The recycling facility will be able to process 15,000 tons of waste annually and is expected to be operational in 2024. It is being built by TotalEnergies (60%) and Plastic Energy (40%).

The arrangement will guarantee the supply of TotalEnergies’ upcoming Grandpuits advanced plastic recycling facility.

Waste stream

Citeo, the principal French agency in charge of end-of-life household packaging, shall deliver a stream of flexible plastic waste that has been separated from post-consumer packaging in accordance with the conditions of this Agreement. The Paprec Plastiques 80 facility in Amiens (France), where a cutting-edge sorting and preparation line will be constructed, will receive this stream.

This waste from France will be used by TotalEnergies in its cutting-edge recycling facility at the Grandpuits zero-crude platform to create recycled plastics with the same qualities as virgin food-grade plastics.
