United States – Braskem, an industrial producer of biopolymers, has invested in Nexus Circular—a commercial leader in advanced recycling that turns plastic waste into feedstocks for the production of sustainable virgin plastics.
Plastics that are difficult to recycle, such as landfill bound plastic films, can be turned into circular feedstocks by Nexus using a proprietary advanced recycling technology. This feedstock can then be turned into virgin plastics.
As part of Braskem’s long-term strategy to promote plastic recycling, the company has made a significant investment in Nexus. This investment is just one component of Braskem’s overall strategy, which includes investments in recycling infrastructure, mechanical recycling, and advanced recycling. Additionally, Braskem is a founding member of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, The Recycling Partnership’s Polypropylene Recycling Coalition, and Cyclyx, all of which will see the company’s recycled product line expand in 2021..
