Tenaris, Saipem and SIAD in CO2 capture project in Italy

CCUS

Italy – Tenaris, Saipem, and SIAD have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to begin the design phase of a carbon dioxide capture and utilization (CCU) plant at Tenaris’ Dalmine facility.

The project entails the capture of 30 tons of CO2 per day produced by the Tenaris Dalmine plant’s thermoelectric power plant. The CO2 captured using Saipem CO2 Solutions’ proprietary technology will be used by SIAD in a variety of applications, including the food and beverage industry, agriculture, water treatment, metal processing, and as a low-emission refrigerant gas.

The Saipem CO2 Solutions technology, which is based on an innovative enzymatic process for CO2 capture, allows waste heat to be used instead of toxic substances used in other processes. The three companies’ agreement is divided into several phases, the first of which will be a feasibility study.
