United Kingdom – BP has awarded PGS a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) 3D seismic acquisition contract over the Endurance reservoir.
Endurance is located approximately 145 kilometres off the coast of Teesside and approximately 85 kilometres off the coast of the Humber. Seismic acquisition is expected to begin in April 2022 and conclude in June.
“PGS has a history of pioneering the marine 3D seismic market and the Endurance survey is one of the industry’s first publicized awards of a 3D acquisition contract in North Sea specifically designed to address CCS project development challenges,” says PGS President & CEO Rune Olav Pedersen.
The need for CCS storage is expected to grow significantly in the future, according to a number of studies. Seismic acquisition for CCS is likely to represent a significant new market for the industry.
