McDermott and CSIRO boost carbon capture technologies

CCUS

Australia A partnership between McDermott International and the CSIRO, Australia’s premier national science organization, is assessing the potential for CSIRO’s carbon capture technologies to be deployed for use in both the energy and heavy industry sectors.

“Carbon capture is fundamental to achieving a net-zero future while maintaining affordable, accessible energy and decarbonizing resources,” said Samik Mukherjee, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “We welcome the opportunity to work with CSIRO to advance scalable, flexible carbon capture solutions for industrial and energy applications.”

Worldwide projects

More than 200 successful carbon capture and separation projects and four decades of experience under McDermott’s belt demonstrate the company’s ability to use cutting edge, low-carbon delivery methods in any part of the world. McDermott’s dedication to an integrated delivery approach to energy transition has been highlighted by the strong collaboration that has been established between the two organizations.

Since its inception in 1901, the CSIRO has been at the forefront of technological advancement, including the development of carbon capture technology for Direct Air Capture and post-combustion processes with Santos, the largest domestic gas supplier in Australia.
