Italvolt to build Europe’s largest battery Gigafactory

Italy TÜV SÜD and Italvolt will work together on the construction of Italvolt’s new Gigafactory for battery production in Scarmagno, Italy.

Italvolt plans to build Europe’s largest battery Gigafactory with an ultimate production target of 70 GWh. The first phase of the new factory is scheduled for completion in 2024. TÜV SÜD will support Italvolt in the area of technical advisory services such as design review, risk assessment or fire protection services, with testing services such as battery testing, EMC or functional safety, inspection services and certification services.

Italvolt’s Gigafactory

The new gigafactory in Italy represents the largest industrial investment in
Italy in modern time. Italvolt’s Gigafactory will be able to supply the European automotive industry with green sustainable batteries. The gigafactory will employ up to 4,000 direct workers, whilst the wider Italvolt eco-system will create up to 15,000 new jobs.
