Essar Oil UK selects Topsoe’s SNOX for carbon capture facility

United Kingdom – Essar Oil UK has partnered with Topsoe to implement the revolutionary SNOX technology in its carbon capture facility located in Stanlow, North West England.

Selected as a technology licensor, Topsoe will deploy its SNOX technology to address the challenge of removing nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, dust, and other contaminants from the flue gas generated during Essar’s production process. This move is a strategic effort by Essar Oil UK to reduce its carbon footprint, aligning with global decarbonization goals.

Understanding SNOX

SNOX technology, heralded as a game-changer in carbon capture, empowers industries such as refineries, power plants, and carbon black manufacturers to eliminate sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, particulates, and various contaminants from flue gases. What sets SNOX apart is its sustainable approach – it operates without consuming water and limestone, and crucially, it generates no waste or ocean discharge.

The collaboration between Essar Oil UK and Topsoe underscores the importance of industry-wide partnerships in achieving decarbonization goals.
