United Kingdom – Eni has welcomed the UK Government’s decision to grant a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the HyNet North West CO2 pipeline.
With the aim of addressing climate change, Eni acknowledges the importance of promoting projects like HyNet. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology are essential for eliminating emissions from hard-to-abate sectors, playing a pivotal role in achieving ambitious climate targets.
The decision to grant a DCO signifies the establishment of a significant new industry in the UK, consolidating Eni’s role in providing decarbonization services to industrial activities.
Infrastructure
Eni’s HyNet CO2 transportation and storage system will initially have a capacity of 4.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year, with the potential to expand to 10 million tonnes annually by 2030. This infrastructure transformation will contribute to the UK’s decarbonization goals, turning energy-intensive industrial regions into low-carbon clusters.
