Belgium – Fluxys c-grid” has brought together Fluxys Belgium, Pipelink, Socofe, and SFPIM to establish a CO2 network operator.

The Fluxys c-grid guarantees a long-term strategy by fusing a strong regional focus with a wide worldwide network of interconnected nodes. To achieve its transition goals, industry must use carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), particularly in hard-to-abate industries like steel, petrochemical, cement, and lime manufacturing. Through this alliance, an integrated strategy will be applied across national and regional boundaries in Belgium.

The objective is to connect the CO2 network to adjacent infrastructure in neighboring nations as well as export infrastructure to enable transit volumes through a CO2 backbone. The CO2 takeout alternatives that industry requires to maintain activity and employment are provided by Fluxys c-grid.

Extensive experience

The stockholders have the knowledge and the financial stability to guarantee sufficient financing of the investments for creating and running the wide CO2 network the sector needs for its transitional requirements.

Both Fluxys Belgium and Pipelink, a subsidiary of the Port of Antwerps-Bruges, are independent infrastructure partners with a wealth of experience in the planning, building, and secure operation of pipeline infrastructure. Fluxys c-grid will be established as a subsidiary of Fluxys Belgium, which will hold a 77.5% stake, with partners Pipelink and Socofe each holding 10%, and SFPIM providing support with a 2.5% stake.
