Norway – Equinor and Rosneft have inked a partnership agreement on carbon management.
The deal builds on the strategic collaboration between the two corporations in Russia. Equinor and Rosneft will use their long-standing collaboration and work together to create low-carbon solutions and minimize the carbon impact of joint projects.
Flaring and methane emissions reduction
Under the terms of the agreement, the firms will share expertise and investigate potential in areas like as flaring and methane emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emissions reporting.
Equinor and Rosneft will also consider prospects for collaboration in the areas of renewable energy, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and low-carbon hydrogen solutions.
The agreement aims to identify low-carbon solutions for the companies’ joint upstream projects in Russia, as well as to collaborate on sustainability initiatives based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and internationally recognized environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks.
