The Netherlands – Kuehne+Nagel will organize the heavy-lift logistics and module transportation for Shell’s hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) biofuels project in the Netherlands.
The project will be one of Europe’s largest commercial production facilities for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and waste-derived renewable diesel. The Rotterdam biofuels facility is expected to begin production in 2024. It will produce low-carbon fuels such as renewable diesel from waste such as used cooking oil, animal fat, and other industrial and agricultural residuals.
Logistics solution
Shell’s HEFA biofuels project will be aided by Renewable Energy Logistics, a new Kuehne+Nagel Project Logistics solution tailored to the unique logistics requirements of the renewable energy industry worldwide. It is intended to transport all of the components and machinery required to set up and maintain alternative energy projects in a safe and proper manner.
Renewable Energy Logistics will focus on providing supply chain solutions and logistics services for all major modes of transportation for existing and new customers in the renewables industry, including wind (onshore and offshore), hydro, and solar energy.
