Boralex sells Canadian biomass power plant

Canada – Boralex has agreed to sell the 34.5 MW Senneterre power plant, which is the company’s last remaining biomass power generation asset.

Resolu Forest Products Canada, based in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, has purchased the power plant after serving as a by-product supplier for the power plant for the past two years. Boralex wants to accelerate its growth in the wind, solar, and storage sectors while optimizing its hydroelectric facilities, according to its 2025 Strategic Plan. The sale of the Senneterre Power Plant falls in line with this goal.

Hydro-Quebec has a power purchase agreement with the Power Plant, and employees will be transferred to them. The transaction will be completed once all customary closing conditions have been met, including Hydro-approval. Québec’s
